Fourth of July Family Fun Fest
and Fireworks Celebration
set at Floresville River Park
Those looking for a great place to celebrate Fourth of July this year won’t have to look any farther than the Floresville River Park.
This year, the City of Floresville, the Floresville Economic Development Corporation (FEDC), the Bowie Foundation and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Wilson County have come together to present the Fourth of July Family Fun Fest and Fireworks Celebration.
It’s a whole day of events for everyone in the family, culminating with a spectacular patriotic fireworks display in the sky over the park.
The Boys and Girls Clubs will kick off the festivities at 8 a.m. with a 5K walk/run. The sports events will continue throughout the day with youth and adult volleyball tournaments, an adult soccer tournament, and a 3v3 youth soccer competition. Those wanting to participate in the events can call Debbie Bolf at 830-393-2585.
Entry fees will be $15 a person for the 5K Walk/Run, $15 a person for the 3V3 Youth Soccer event, $150 a team for the adult softball tournament, $165 a team for the adult soccer and $100 a team for youth and adult volleyball tournament. All early entrants will receive a free event T-shirt. Trophies will be awarded to first place winners.
For the tiniest members of the family, there's a Kiddie Parade that starts promptly at 9 a.m. No registration is necessary. Show up at 8:30 a.m. to line up. The Floresville Police Officers Association will be on hand that morning to offer free fingerprinting.
The city pool will be free to the public all day for those looking for a way to cool off and food booths, sponsored by local nonprofit organizations, will be open throughout the day selling hot dogs, tacos, drinks and more. Organizations wanting to set up a booth can call the Boys and Girls Clubs at 830-393-2585.
Afternoon events will include a free Country and Tejano Music Festival beginning at 4 p.m. at the park’s Roy Sanchez Pavilion sponsored by the Bowie Foundation. There will be beer for sale to wash down the barbecue brisket plates the organization will have for sale.
Live music will begin at 4 p.m. and continue through midnight. music and dancing will continue until 9:30 p.m., when the fireworks will begin. Sponsored by the Floresville Economic Development Corporation, the 20-minute fireworks display will be set to patriotic music.
