Avalon—A 500 acre tract that will consist of a community of over 800 homes, an 18 hole golf course, several parks along the San Antonio River, and other amenities that will offer a unique enhanced quality of life for its residents. FEDC funded legal fees to acquire the railroad right of way as part of the negotiations. . FEDC is actively involved with Avalon to market the community and the city as a whole.   houses



 
 
Railroad Depot—The FEDC purchased the original Floresville Railroad Depot from a private owner and moved the depot to its original location on the railroad right of way. In 1885, the depot in Floresville, was the first depot built outside of San Antonio on the San Antonio Aransas Pass Rail Line. The Railroad Depot is the midpoint along the Hike and Bike Trail.
 
 
 

Highland Oaks Apartments
Assisted the City of Floresville in extending water and sewer lines to the complex.

Courthouse at Christmas
  Annual Christmas Lighting Project
Spearheads the annual fundraising drive to light the County Courthouse and Square for the citizens of Floresville and to attract more visitors to the city during the holiday season.


 

US 181 and Highway 97 Intersection Beautification
Worked with the City of Floresville and the Texas Department of Transportation to fund a project to improve the appearance of one of the main entrances to the city. This includes adding trees, shrubs and other ornamental plants to a barren area and erecting a dynamic welcoming sign.

hike and bike
  Hike and Bike Trail—Leading the effort to create a 2.9 mile hike and bike trail on the old San Antonio Aransas Pass Railroad right of way. The trail passes through the city and out to the Avalon Community. This is another initiative to enhance the quality of life in the city and to create another reason for visitors to stop and enjoy the sights in Floresville.
